Many families and students have commented on the number of changes that have taken place at Perry Hall Christian School, changes that have been seen as positive. There have been three main categories of change that coincide with the three initiatives for the school overall. The first and most importantly is the Spiritual formation and Discipleship of our students. Although we are a Christian school, this area is taken seriously everyday and we make great efforts to improve. Some of the areas we have changed are: the complete review of our Bible department--curriculum, staff, goals and objectives as well as the vision and strategy to challenge our students to articulate and defend their faith; our chapels are constantly reflecting our students' need to draw closer to Christ Jesus in worship; service projects to put Christianity into action both within our campus as well as externally in the community; and a Spiritual Capstone project for our juniors and seniors that may be an assigned topic or issue in which they are required to research and defend their faith either verbally or in writing to their peers and faculty; and, a senior mission trip that gives opportunity to present the Gospel to another culture.
A second initiative area of change is Academic enhancement: Although we area a State Approved school, we have desire that our graduating seniors exceed the standards. We offer core curriculum course like Forensic Biology, Para-Med technology, Calculus, Physics, Chemistry, Classic Literature, Fine Arts including Drama and Praise Band, Foreign Languages of Spanish and German as well as Dual Credit and Advanced Placement course through our partnership with Seven Star Academy ( Christian based, accredited on line program). A wide range of electives and clubs rounds out an expanded menu from which students can choose in a conscious effort to reduce study halls while engaging students throughout the day.
Our third initiative reflecting change is building community: with our faculty and staff; parents, students, pastoral staff and church members and with the greater community of Perry Hall and surrounding areas.
